1 Cor 13:4-8

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

I was asked last friday, how to tell whether one is really in love or not. The truth of the matter is, the qn is based on the idea of falling in love. Love is seen as a swimming pool of sorts, that you fall into/get into and subsequently fall out of. However, clearly throughout the Bible, we are given examples of people who chose to love. Most significantly, when we examine Christ's example, we see that He loved us immaculately, despite the glaring flaws that we all possess.

And so, how does one know if one is in love or not? My suggestion would be to follow your head first and rein in your heart. Emotions are deceptive but powerful, but God has given you a capable mind, to conform to His thoughts and also the self-control to do His will.

Love is a choice, not a swimming pool. heh.

chew on this till we next meet again :)

Accept yourself. Love yourself. Respect yourself. This is good advice properly understood.

But why should I accept myself if I don't feel like it? What is the rock-solid, inescapable objective foundation for my self-love?

If it is only my feelings or perceptions or my psychologist's perceptoins, then my house of self-esteem is built on sand. When the rains come, my house of self-esteem will fall and it will be a cataclysmic fall.

But if my house is based on God's Word, then even when the rains of bad feelings and self-doubt come, my house of self-esteem will stand firm because it is built on the rock of God's unchanging truth, not my ever shifting feelings about myself.

Self-esteem is neccesary for all psychological health, and there is no absolutely sure basis for self-esteem other than the assurance of God's love for me.

Assignment!! (:

Hello!!

As spoken at cell (16/06/06), your assignment is to lookup at least 2 verses on anger and impatience, then post them somewhere on this blog.

Try to answer the following qns:

1. What does the Bible say abt anger and dealing with anger?

2. How does this tie in with the fruit of the spirit - patience that we talked abt?

Note- anger is with reference to both God's and humans'.

Have fun! (:

God bless

thanks maxine for the pictures (:

Hello everyone (:

Many thanks for all the hard work and effort that have gone into preparation and execution of this event!

A thousand apologies to all who had to bear the brunt of my feverish impatience on 2nd June. So sorry if i was mean and yelled at you.

Still, you gals have been great sports and your willingness to serve with the God given capabilities you have is inspiring!!

I pray that for each one of you, many more opportunities of service will turn up and you will never lose your focus of serving the Lord.

Praise God that Cell E went better than expected (: (: (:

We should meet up someday to have a time of thanksgiving and fellowship eh?

God bless ya all!!
